A moderate magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck the Gulf of Aden near the northeastern coast of Somalia’s Puntland region. According to data verified by the USGS National Earthquake Information Center, the seismic event occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers with its epicenter located roughly 159 kilometers north of Caluula.The event occurred along the highly active tectonic boundary zones where the Arabian and Somali plates pull apart. Local administrative units have not issued any immediate damage or hazard impact advisories for coastal communities in the Bari province.
